There is no specific law in Michigan that addresses impeding traffic. However, there are a number of laws that could be applicable in a situation where someone is impeding traffic. For example, Michigan's Vehicle Code prohibits driving in a manner that is "likely to endanger the life, limb, or property of any person." Additionally, the Michigan Penal Code prohibits obstructing a police officer in the performance of his or her duties. If a police officer determines that someone is impeding traffic and is not following his or her orders to move, the person could be arrested and charged with obstruction.
