Ferdinand Porsche was born on September 3, 1875, in the town of Maffersdorf, Austria-Hungary (now Vratislavice, Czech Republic). Porsche's father, Anton Porsche, was a master carpenter. Porsche showed a natural talent for engineering and design from a young age, and in 1895 he began working for the Lohner Coachworks Company in Vienna. There, Porsche designed his first car, the Lohner Electric Chaise.
